Data Collection
This section provides information and resources for data collection in DIC. This topic can be broken into two main parts:
-
Pattern Application: Pattern application involves imparting a random texture on the surface of a sample. This section will go over patterning at different length scales, discuss techniques used for each length scale, and also provide useful citations for these techniques. In my opinion, this is the most important aspect of obtaining good quality data; most of the effort in obtaining high quality results should be directed in imparting a high quality pattern on the sample being tested.
-
Image Acquisition: The image acquisition section will discuss methods for obtaining images and some post processing techniques which can be applied to improve image quality.
Both topics are very important aspects of DIC. Poor patterning and/or poor imaging can lead to poor results.
